I was recently booked into Ipswich Hospital to have an Anterior Cervical Discectomy, my first date was postponed as my Surgeon had been called on to do a specialised operation that only he could do for someone else, when i arrived at hospital for my second date I was told that I may not be seen as my surgeon may get called upon to deal with an emergency case, obviously i was a little frustrated but understood that "Emergencies" happen ( I later learned that the emergency had a fractured spine).
After a couple of hours my surgeon (Mr Kaleel) came to see me and apologised and told me i was cancelled, later that night he called me HIMSELF and told me i was booked for a day the following week.
I was absolutely gobsmacked at this mans level of "customer service" that the fact i'd been bounced twice didn't even register and i was hugely pleased that he had found the time to call me.
On the day of the operation I found everyone from the theatre assistants, the staff in the pre-op room, the staff in the recovery room and the nurses on the ward all amazingly helpful and happy ( I had been massively anxious before hand).
After the Op i was able to eat almost straight away and had very little in the way of after affects from the Op and was sent home the next day, its now two weeks later and I've just had my staples out, my wound is clean and healing nicely and its all down to Mr Kaleel and his theatre team and the nurses on Martlesham Ward.
