I would like to place on record my deep appreciation for the RAH IBD team. I have suffered from Crohn's disease for almost two decades. My care, until 2016, was in a different hospital, often disjointed with poor communication and difficulty contacting the relevant care providers, in times of need. Inflammatory bowel disease can be very debilitating, particularly when a relapse occurs, which can happen quite dramatically and without warning. However, since transferring my care to the IBD team in RAH Paisley, under the care of Dr Naismith, I am full of praise for the innovative nurse led IBD team. Communication with the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Seth, Allan and Fiona, as well as the Consultant Dr Naismith, is first class, as I can contact them directly by phone or email as and when required, in an emergency situation and someone gets back to me with advice promptly. I cannot emphasise enough the value of this type of support to a patient, in what can be a frightening and stressful time. I hope that this type of set up is emulated in other hospitals, so that all patients can benefit.
