About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

Anything else?

The entire hospital smelt of stale urine. Because I have mental health problems, I was looked at and treated as though I was a lesser being. Most of the nurses were completely ignorant or incompetent of my needs and care. They never listened, and made idiotic, blind, offhand comments.

The restaurant itself is very nice and the food is actually very good, but only if you go down there yourself. Don't expect anything decent if you order via menus (which you'd be lucky to get, and even luckier if they reached the restaurant, and even more lucky if you actually got the meal you asked for, and amazing if you got more than a tablespoon's worth of food).

They also don't provide any alternative to lactose to put in tea/coffee/cereal, so I was left bloated after having no option but to have the cow's milk. They also didn't have brown bread most of the time, which was a problem as white bread also bloats me. The brown bread they did have contained seeds etc, which I couldn't eat.

A lot of the staff were completely ignorant of my extreme hypersensitivity to noise and touch, constantly whistling, making noise, screaming, and laughing; and justifying other patient's TVs being excessively loud, constantly, from 7am until past midnight, despite the noise was making me succumb to extremely severe panic attacks and autistic meltdowns.

Also, if I didn't ask about my various medications, they forgot to give me them.
