About: Pontefract General Infirmary

What could be improved

my wife and i was told by west yorks emergancy service at 6pm on wed. 17/3/11 they had made arrangements for my wifes attendance at pontefract a & e. the ambulance would be at my home shortly and to be ready to go. no option was given. we sat with our coats on till the ambulance arrived at 8.45pm we arrived at a&e and they new nothing about us. an ecg was taken plus a blood test which left my wife arm with a 3" circular bruise, i complained to the youth who did it as it took nearly 20 mins. the reast of the time we sat waiting, we was given a cup of tea at 11pm and at 11.20pm was asked who was going to collect us? as we had refused addmission as we were told that if addmision was done my wife would have to go to pinderfields for addmission. that is why i declined addmission. i mentioned that i felt the stress as i have heart problems and under a consultant at yorkshire heart hospital at leedsand fitted with a pacemaker/cardioverter/defibulator the reply was " you look fit enough to me". at 81 and 83 y.o. we were turned out to pay a taxi home at a cost of £11 this out of disability money! the sister even refused to give the medical information to pass on.i hope when they get to our age and cannot walk they get the same treatment
