"Grandad ward 110 and 11"

My grandad was admited to hospital because of having a mini stroke. He started off on ward 1 which the care and staff were super. He then got moved to the ward where is doctor was. This was ward 110. One male member of staff was very rude to my grandma when she asked a question about visiting times. His reply was why don’t to go and look. One of the female nurses was absolute fab. I can’t thank her enough. He was in for a week the he was discharged. He was sent to the discharge lounge so myself nor my grandma could speak to anyone about any further treatment. 4 days later he got re admitted because he was having post stroke seszuies. He went straight in to high dependency on ward 110. He then a few days later got move over to ward 11 which was at the other side. Patient care was non existent. Unfortunately my grandad had another stroke which this times was quite dense and serious. We were not informed at any point what was going on and no what would happen. His doctor would walk pass and say something but not tell you properly. My dad was self medicating because the stroke only effected his mobility nothing else. Myself and mum was there one day and a nurse came and said that he need his insulin and was going to inject it into his arm. They believed that it was ok to let diabetics have hypos. Also my grandad can’t have lactos they tried to tell me as his granddaughter that it is the same as gluten. It is absolutely not. He was treated with no respect and no dignity. This is not acceptable. We had a word with the charge nurse and after that he was treated disgusting. We were all really worried when he rang us or when we left him in case anything happened. This should not b like that you should know that they are in the best place getting the best care. One particular nurse was really good and I can’t thank the physio team enough. Thank god for him going to rehabilitation.

At the point when he was so ill and we did not think he would make it we were given no information. He was in 2 months.
