The nurses on this ward were not very helpful. When asked questions about my mother they seemed uninterested and gave very brief answers to discourage further communication. At one point my mother’s medication could not be found. She was given differing information by different staff members about her treatment and what she should or shouldn’t be doing which left her very confused by the time she was discharged. When we phoned to ask for information about how she was doing we were told false information ie she had slept well and had eaten breakfast when infact she had little sleep due to the noise of other patients through the night and had not eaten breakfast. When discharge she was due to have medication delivered to her house. When it arrived it appeared some was missing. Upon contacting the ward to find out about it they were quite dismissive and said she everything she needed.
Upon pushing further I was told that her levels were fine on discharge so she didn’t need the medication in question. The next day my mother had to contact 111 as her discharge notes aside that she was to have the medication that the ward insisted was required. An emergency prescription had to be issued so she could get enough to cover her for the weekend. The medication was required for the reason she was admitted in the first place and this was a big failing by the ward. This ward appeared to be in disarray and was not pleasing to visit or to stay in.
"Ward D3 very poor"
