"A long wait in A&E. (With travel about 8 hrs..."

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Dudley Urgent Care Centre

Rang NHS help line my wife had severe pains in her side was advised to visit A&E at Russell’s Hall at 3am confused where to gain entrance. Police man outside helped us out with directions.

On registering at the desk we were seen by a triage nurse about 10 minutes later who then issued my wife with pain relief.

It then was a waiting game for about 3.5 hours till my wife was seen by a doctor who ordered various tests, Blood, urine etc. 6.35am.

At 9.40am a doctor spoke to us about results tests taken. Medication was issued via the hospital pharmacy .

We were on our way home around 10:15am.

From speaking to NHS helpline to getting home was a 8hr +

Many thanks to the hospital staff who dealt with us, “but” the waiting time was very long.

It does appear that a Bay needs to be available to deal with you, all bays were full with patients.

The staff are under massive pressure and deserve better.
