"Emergency treatment to distressful locked jaw"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing / Accident and emergency

On arriving at the reception desk we came into contact with two reception staff.

They reacted in an appropriate calm and pleasant manner towards my poor son who was suffering from a locked jaw, this had become dislocated and he was in pain with it and also emotionally distressed and in pain.

The one lady receptionist saw the situation and referred questions to me his mother which really helped.

She was fast in her approach and wanting to help and did so by taking a note of all she wanted to ask.

She also gave us an approximate of expected waiting time which turned out to be accurate.

When we were called, we were meet by a nurse who then gave way to a doctor and another member of staff who also seemed to be a doctor.

Both went about their task with a quiet proficiency and the second doctor or nurse held my son's hand whilst the jaw was being pushed back into place. and my son who is quite a manly sort of person was comforted by this and of course I held his other hand.

Lovely doctors, great treatment and no time lost.

We came away very impressed with all the staff that night.

The department was very crowded and there must of have been a lot of pressure put on the staff as a result but you would never have thought that from their professional demeanor..

Only one criticism, I noticed that the blinds in the treatment room were dirty.

Not a good look for a hospital..
