"Appalling"

About: Sandwell General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Visited this afternoon. It was terrible to see people so ill in the waiting room who had been there for hours. An elderly lady fainted in her sons arms and there were no wheelchairs so he had to carry her. A man was too ill to walk to triage. He was left on the chair and by the time a bed came he was unconscious. A dr came out and looked at the woman in the only wheelchair in the department and said loudly "does that woman need that chair?"

I am very sorry to hear about your experience, this is not the level of care that we would like to offer our patients and as such would like to investigate this further. Please contact our complaints team at swbh.complaints@nhs.net with the details of your experience so they can look into your concerns. With kind regards, Rachel Barlow, Chief Operating Officer.
