Dear Food allergy

Thank you for leaving feedback and I'm glad to hear you and your child were seen quickly and that staff were friendly and professional. I will make sure this is fed back to the staff in Ward 2 who I know always do their very best to make sure patients receive the best care possible.

I am sorry to hear you didn't think the food offered for children with allergies would appeal to an unwell child. I will ask the nurse in charge of Ward 2 to look into this with the catering department in Dr Grays and we will review what is currently offered to see if there can be more "child friendly" alternatives.

Thank you again for leaving your feedback as this gives us an insight into what could be better for children and families and allows a real opportunity for change that makes a difference.

Kind regards
Caroline Reid

Hello

Further to my response last week, I have now had a chance to look into the food choices we offer children in Dr Grays more closely.

Due to the strict regulations around preparing food for those with allergies for some children we are required to use specially prepared food bought in from a specific company, however, depending on the nature or severity of the allergy we are able to prepare some food locally in the kitchens, and staff would be able to discuss these options fully with you when you are in the unit.

If you are in Ward 2 again please don't hesitate to speak to the staff there about your requirements. In addition Mr Ruaraidh MacKinnon who is the Patient Catering Manager for NHS Grampian is happy for you to contact him and his email address is - ruaraidh.mackinnon@nhs.net.

Thank you
Caroline Reid
