"Miss diagnosis"

About: Kidderminster Hospital

I attend the minor injuries unit on Saturday after a very nasty slip/fall on decking, after being booked in the waiting time went from 30 minutes to 120 minutes, I was then seen by a nurse who was very short with me and showed little interest in what was going on with my ankle, after explaining that I had not taken any pain killers meds as I was unsure what the hospital would have to do, and did not what to compermise any addition treatment that would be offered, she told me very sorntley that she would only give me paracemotol, which wasn't the issue, I just wanted my ankle assessed by a health professional. After showing her the ankle I was taken for an x ray, I was informed by the radiologist that the X-ray equipment was not of a standard that they could see any minor breaks or fractures, I found this very confusing as they have stated in the main hospital reception that breaks and fractures can be treated. I then saw the nurse any who informed me that my ankle was twisted, I was told to apply cold compress and keep moving it. Once I returned home to London I went to my local A&E department, who quickly assessed me, had any X-ray, informed me that I had a fracture and torn ligaments and I left with crutches and a appointment at our local fracture clinic and descent pain relief all within 1 1/30 hours, I would not recommend this hospital to anyone and will be taking my complaint further. I you have a suspected break or fracture go somewhere for treatment.
