"This is a daily horror story"

About: Basildon University Hospital

Yesterday arrived 7pm faced with rubbish on floor, nurses step over! Mother’s table covered with rubbish, stale sandwich, stale cake, peeled and rock hard clementine, plate of smashed up food (I gagged).

As usual I spent first 15 mins, clearing rubbish from table floor shelf etc etc. Again found alarm call button under bed with wire twisted under mattress totally inaccessible to patient even if wire pulled.

I was exhausted.

Even visitors have health problems and we not pass health checks for ward cleaner/orderly.

Then yet again a nurse proceeded to treat a patient in close proximity without closing curtains.

I pulled them across for at least some privacy.

There seems to be a total absence of asking relatives to leave and treatment taking place inside curtains.

I do not expect to be involved at 10 inches distance in a strangers treatment.

As usual a female patient was escorted to loo in a totally worn out nhs nightie that had as much cover of her body as a worn out Kleenex.

I do not expect this to be imposed on my mother, me or the poor patient concerned.

Let alone male visitors within 6 to 10 ft.

What happened to nhs standards of respect for all - respectable and appropriate bedwear, dressing gown and slippers were once an absolute requirement for the protection of dignity and decorum and decency of all.

What happened to standards that a patient is e posed and other patients And visitors are subject to exposure.

This is abuse.

Daily visits have daily insult.

Like other person commenting it is no good being referred to PALS as when they are addressed they pass it on.

Speech directly sto staff are complaints and they should call senior management I. Immediately.

This is not a car repair shop it is a hospital charged with minimum standRds in the health care of patients and others in contact with its services.

It is not allowed to do harm whether by neglect or by insolence or by action.
