I went into hospital the Friday before my little one was born (Monday), the first ward I visited was horrible. My water broke Friday night and by Saturday early morning I was in pain the gaps were 3-4 minutes so my mother went to call the nurse, but no one came. I was in pain for 4 hours and then a nurse arrived who gave me pain killers and placed me on the monitor. No nurse came to check on me even when called.
Sunday morning I was taken to the labour ward. I was there the entire day, my labour started and the midwife looking after me was very nice and helpful. On Sunday night the midwife in charge found out that my pelvic bone was too small for my little one to pass through so I had an emergency c-section, my little one was born just after midnight on Monday morning.
Then I was moved to the postnatal ward the midwifes I encountered there were all lovely and delightful except one who was being rude no matter the situation. I was just getting the feeling in my legs back and asked her if she would bring a fresh jug of water she turned to my mother who was holding my little one and said "The kitchen is down the hall you can get water there." then she left. I felt disappointed, she let down all the other staff on this ward. I had to stay another 4 days due to an infection and was discharged as soon as the infection was gone.
Overall I was happy with the experience in the labour and postnatal ward, but the first ward could have cared for me better or at least checked in once in a while.
"Amazing yet a bit disappointed"
