"Nothing was a bother for them"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Cardiology (Ward 4)

(as a relative),

When my 92 year old aunt was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia we did not expect things to go through way they did. After a heart attack post admission and pulmonary oedema things deteriorated for her and she sadly passed away 9 days later.

My aunt was brought to the hospital by 2 lovely Paramedics (Ann & Laura) and was admitted to A&E, then the ECU and finally Wd 4.

The CSW's were all really nice and helpful especially Tracey who we witnessed do a few things for her that was very much appreciated and very thoughtful. The cups of tea and coffee provided for the family through the night,  helped keep us going.

The Staff Nurses, Laura, Dawn, Lori, Marion, Graeme, Sharon, Ann-Marie and the staff who's names we didn't catch, were all very kind, caring and attentive to her needs. Nothing was a bother for them help and when asked for assistance they were on the case promptly.

The Dr's, Neil, Emma, Emily, Niamh and the rest of the clinical team who attended to  her (you guys will know who you are) demonstrated an excellent set of skills whilst we were there and did their very best to reassure and treat my aunt.

This ward/team is under the care of Charge Nurse Gary who has in my opinion excellent staff.

Once again a big THANK YOU to each and everyone of you. The outcome was very sad for us as a family, however, your care, kindness and attentiveness made this journey that bit easier.

Genuinely and wholeheartedly please keep up the good work.

Dear Poomf,

Please accept my condolences for your aunt. I am sorry to read of her passing.

I would like to thank you for sharing this however and for your kind words about our staff and all the staff of all grades from our partners in the NHS.

This must have been a very difficult time for you and your family. If you would like, I would be more than happy to pass on your thanks to the crew that attended your aunt and obviously made a good impression and acted in a manner we would expect. If this is your wish you can email me on scotamb.corporaetaffairs@nhs.net.

I wish you all the best.

Kind Regards

Alan

Thank you for the reply. I hope the staff of Ward 4 get to read how much of a good impression and the positive impact they had on our situation.

Hi Andy, these comments were directed to the staff of wd 4 not ECU as I didn't come across the ECU staff through her journey. I am sure the ECU staff were also very competent however my comments are based on our experiences in Wd4.

Many thanks

Poomf
