"LGH or THE SPIRE HOSPITAL LEICESTER under the NHS"

In July last year I underwent an arthroscopy to my right knee for a tear in my meniscus cartilage at the General Hospital Leicester, which went very well and I posted a positive review.

In November last year I underwent an arthroscopy to my left knee for the same problem, but this time at The Spire Hospital on Gartree Road, Leicester under the NHS.

This procedure also went well and I even had a private room and physio afterwards, which I didn’t get at the General Hospital.

Comparing the 2 operation experiences, I wouldn’t say I had any better treatment at The Spire Hospital over the General Hospital, even taking the private room and the physio into consideration.

I would have not hesitation recommending the General Hospital for Knee operation or a shoulder operation which I have had about 4 year ago.

The private room at Spire Hospital was nice, but I was only in for part of a day, so the ward at the General Hospital was just as good and the staff at both hospitals were very good.

The operation went just as well in both hospitals.

The Physio at The Spire Hospital I cancelled after the first session as a waste of my time. I came across the same Physio two and a half years ago at the General Hospital when treating my right knee and never went back.

The key hole cuts to my right knee were below the knee cap out of the way and I had no problem after the operation.

The key hole cuts to my left knee were on the knee cap, which coursed pain when, I bent my knee stretching the skin over the bone, my trousers would rub against the cuts when walking, when I sat down the trousers pulled tight over the cuts and the bed sheets to touch the cuts.

For a month after the stitches were removed I had to wear an elasticised knee support tube, 24 hours a day and then everything was fine.

Overall I have had excellent treatment for both my knee operations, which were carried out last year.
