Been a patient of this department for many years with an excellent consultant who has now retired.
After waiting months for new treatment the day came and my husband and I turned up on time for the appointment only to be told that the treatment would not go ahead as my blood results were not acceptable and there was a high risk of infection if it went ahead. What annoyed us was the fact that the consultant admitted to having made the decision not to go ahead with the treatment the previous week, but failed to notify me. So I made a journey from home, queued for half an hour to park and it was all totally unnecessary. Three and a half hours and car parking charges . Added to the fact that my new consultant may know a lot about this chosen area but is inexperienced in dealing with people in chronic pain.
My rheumatoid has been out of control since middle of last year and I feel that a lot of that is due to my notes not been read thoroughly enough when it was stated I could not tolerate high doses of a certain drug, this should have been noted.
Instead it started me on a downward spiral that I am struggling to recover from.
