What I liked
The nursed on E8 ward were good.
I'd also like to say thank you to the nurse in the surgery waiting area- you were fantastic at keeping me at ease and chatting despite my nervousness about my coming surgery. I'm sorry I never got your name.
Also thanks to the anesthetists for putting me at ease.
- thank you for making our decision easier.
What could be improved
My experience of the ultrasound/maternity area on level B was mixed.
My treatment by the sonographer was wonderful despite a less than happy outcome - my baby had died several weeks earlier. 'Luckily' for me I'd been forgotten and went in at the end of the day, so I could just run away and not have to go back to the waiting area.
What I did notice, however, while waiting for my scan, not knowing my situation, was that there is no where private that people can go after having received potentially devastating news. You are returned to the 'waiting' area along with all the other pregnant women about to see consultants or sonographers. At least one poor women came out in tears and sat there crying for some time. This seems a big oversight in with the new facilities. It's unpleasant for all - the poor families in grief and the other poor women waiting to go in seeing the grief of the other women and worrying about there own situation. Sort this out!
Also the surgery waiting area isn't very nice or reassuring and it's very very cold and when you're down there waiting for nearly an hour and a half thats a long time in a not nice/cold place.
And while the wards appear clean, they could do with being checked over because I had jam on my TV screen cord (I will continue to think it was jam, I didn't give it a lick test) - clearly not mine as I couldn't eat due to surgery.
Anything else?
Overall, my treatment was good and if I had to I would go back again - although I'd really rather not, but this isn't a reflection on the hospital...
"Fine."
