Our Dad was admitted via Ambulance to Tameside General Hospital where he stayed until he sadly passed away 2 weeks later.
The care he received during this time was outstanding. He spent the majority of his stay in the ITU where he was ventilated and sedated . Every single member of staff that looked after him showed him great care and dignity and as a family we will always be grateful for this.
We spent a considerable amount of time on the ITU during Dad’s stay and we cannot express enough how much we valued the care and compassion that we were shown from the nursing staff. They became like friends to us during that short time. Some members of staff looked after Dad several times, others just the once, but each and every one of them ensured that we were cared for as a family, and sat with us and comforted us through some very difficult times. Words will never express how much this meant to us.
This also applies to the doctors that looked after our Dad. We had several meetings with them and each one brought more heartbreaking news but they delivered this news in the best way they could, making sure we understood what we were being told, talking through any questions or concerns we had and offering their sympathies when the news wasn’t positive.
Although this was a deeply upsetting and distressing time we will always be grateful for the care provided to us all from the staff at this hospital.
