"Not in the slightest bit shocked..."

About: Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

I attended an initial assessment on a monday mid January. I was told i would benefit from having psychotherapy and was told there will be an MDT meeting that wednesday and the nurse stated she will ring me towards the end of the week. After waiting over a week, attempting to get through to the nurse via telephone on a few occassions where i had requested her to call me back I got nothing. Instead, i received a letter on Saturday stating i need to refer myself to the ED charity in Derby and then self-refer to Talking Mental health. I have even said that i didn’t find the ED charity personally beneficial and that at present my ED isn’t the main problem.

I beared my soul in that assessment and i trusted her and even told her of a past trauma i have only told my husband and closest friend, in the hope for once in my life i would receive some help for my ongoing decline in mental health, even stating i feel suicidal on a daily basis. Well, I feel truly let down and hurt.

I have heard and read so many reviews regarding the mental health team in Derby, i was skeptical and gave them a chance, the reviews proved me right. I now truly understand and empathise with other patients who feel they have to do something dangerous to themselves in order to get help. Why should we, as a community be felt to act upon this as a cry for help?! For me, actually going to that appointment and bearing my soul was a huge cry for help as I am a very closed off person and opening up, particularly to a stranger is an exceptionally difficult challenge.

I hate and despise the fact the nurse even said she will ring but didn’t! If you’re not going to keep to your word and ring butinstead send a letter then say that in the first place!!!! This was such a cowardly thing to do, you have made me feel well and truly let down and not deserving of or ill enough for your help.
