"Absolutely APPALLING"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Maternity care

Midwives were extremely rude. I was made to empty my own catheter, despite bladder problems & supposedly having my kidney function monitored post a c section. They didn’t speak to each other, they didn’t help us &, most importantly, they consistently forgot/ didn’t administer ANY pain medication despite my existing conditions & me also having undergone a major operation. The chronic pain team even saw me twice & gave them a schedule, yet for 4 days they missed it/ got it wrong, even when my husband asked - they then said ‘you should’ve asked’. WE DID. They also didn’t administer iron tablets, despite my excessive blood loss & anaemia as a result of the c section. Genuinely shocking. The list is actually endless & we will be formally complaining. I’d give zero stars but that option isn’t available. The worst possible experience and ruined the birth of our first child. I also unfortunately ended up back in 2 weeks later due to excessive bleeding from a retained placenta, where the same awful Midwife sent me for an ultrasound myself saying ‘yeah, you should know where you’re going’ - no, I didn’t and I was ill, having come in as an emergency & been readmitted. The consultant had told me someone would take me, so had I not gone to ask if I was going I wouldn’t have even been told. I would NEVER go back.
