After 3 weeks off work due to anxiety/panic attacks I was asked to make an appointment to see a member of the practice before they would provide a repeat fit note, when speaking to the receptionist when the next appointment was she stated it would be a week on Tuesday, my employer needed another fit note sending to them as it would go down as unpaid if not, when stating this to the receptionist her comment was 'It will be backdated' I made the appointment for the Tuesday but with my anxiety feeling worse a day later my Dad went round that morning to make an emergancy appointment, I saw the nurse in charge and I have never been treated so badly by a healthcare professional, she was rude, abrupt, unfriendly and didn't seem to care at all, I have seen her before and she was also rude on that occasion aswell so clearly not just a bad day. She handed me a prescription and no fit note, I stated my work had requested another and her response was 'your work dont ask for them we provide them when we need to' I politely asked for one and she stated she couldnt give it me now , when I asked her when it would be ready she abruptly said 'sometime today', when I got home my Dad rang the surgery because I was so upset from it all and they said it was ready now, surely the nurse could have said you might aswell hang on because it will only be 5 minuites? Careless and not a thought. With someone suffering so badly with mental illness a bit of care and compassion can go a long way, will be moving GP's.Surely if you want to be in the healthcare profession you need to actually care?
