"Dads stay in 6b"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Older people's healthcare

My Dad was in 6b from October to December and my mum would visit him everyday to try and help get him to eat. Unfortunately he passed peacefully in his sleep on 4th January 2018. I would just like to thank all the staff in this ward with treating my dad with respect and dignity during his stay and for making sure my mum was always ok as well. They where all caring and supportive and they made a difficult time a bit easier to bear. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind feedback with regards to the care of your dad and your mum, they will both be remembered dearly by the team.

The time that your dad was with us your mum became part of the team and we got to know her and her routine as she did ours.

It’s always sad to lose a loved one but we hope that your dad had the last few weeks of his life in a comfortable and caring surrounding where both your dad and mum could both be looked after with respect and dignity, but also be back to being husband and wife and not patient and carer.

Many thanks
