"Mental Health Treatment"

I was given an appointment at this clinic following up a previous appointment in regards to recurring depression and an anxiety disorder.

The doctor i was given the appointment with acted with no interest and almost as if i was wasting his time, after having called the practice saying that i was having suicidal thoughts.

Even after i had said hello to him, when walking in, he didn't look up from his computer and immediately began asking how much alcohol i consumed, which i thought to be a very presumptuous beginning to this conversation.

After stating that i liked to have 2/3 beers after a shift at my job, he told me that alcohol is a depressant and this was the reason i have been feeling so unwell. I take this to be his explanation as to why i have contemplated suicide regularly over the last couple of months (Having suffered depression for almost 10 years).

He then decided i should have liver, thyroid etc examinations at kings hospitals and printed the forms without my consent, and then told me that i should take part in an alcohol recovery program. After he had asked me nothing about myself besides my job title, i found this to be extremely presumptuous, and as you can imagine was very offended by this.

I had come to the practice to deal with a problem which is massively affecting my life, and he effectively gave me two more problems and then a phone number for the NHS's therapy service.

I then asked for some advice in regards to anti-depressants. when i told him that i had heard mixed opinions of Citalopram (what i was prescribed) he laughed and said 'yes there can be side affects'. upon this i decided i had nothing more to say.

More than anything i just wish to be contacted in order to receive some sort of treatment.
