"Daughter's recent visit for successful endoscopy"

About: Victoria Hospital / Day Intervention Unit

(as a parent/guardian),

I accompanied my daughter recently to the day surgery unit for an endoscopy.

She has quite a few problems including learning disability and autism, and hospital visits are very frightening for her with all the noise, lights etc and she finds it unbearable at times to be touched. She is also a very determined young lady, so it can be very difficult to reassure her she is safe in new situations.

I was therefore a bit pessimistic about her being able to tolerate this procedure, however following months of pre-planning by the hospital staff they ensured a supportive, friendly environment for her tailored to her needs and the procedure was successfully completed.

I was gobsmacked she'd tolerated this and I cannot praise the department and all of the staff highly enough!

Dear Wb73

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments following you and your daughter's recent visit to the Endoscopy department at the Victoria.

Coming into hospital can be an anxious time for many patients not knowing what to expect, however it is comforting to hear that the staff helped to make this a positive experience for the both of you and that the procedure was completed as planned.

I will certainly pass on your kind comments to the staff and I hope your daughter is keeping well and now fully recovered.

Kind Regards

Sandra
