"Mixed feelings"

About: Manor Park Surgery

I have long term conditions and repeat infections.

Usually the practice is fantastic.

On Wednesday I was very ill with sinusitis. I’m immunosuppressed and needed advice. I rang the practice, there were no appointments. I rand back after an hour as I’d had a very dizzy spell, I was again advised that there were no appointments.

I rang 111 for advice. They advised to speak to a medically qualified person at my gp practice within twelve hours. I rang my practice back. Advised the same as before or drive to Shakespeare centre drop in clinic seven miles away, I wasn’t well enough to do that. I sit on the PPG and had the email for the ppi gp. I abused my authority and emailed him explaining what 111 had said. I was seen by the on call gp at my practice within half an hour.

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments.

We are pleased you usually find the practice to be fantastic and I am sorry that on this occasion you found it difficult to obtain an appointment.

It is extremely difficult to create and agree to an appointment system that suits every patient and that every patient is happy with.

We do provide as many appointments daily as we are able and do have other services we can direct patients to when we can provide no more appointments.

We are very happy to have you on the PPG and consider it very useful to have experiences such as yours brought to our attention.

I do hope you are now feeling better.

Kind Regards

Karen Wood
