"Dissatisfied"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Neurosurgery

After having to wait almost one hour with no explanation, as I assume the consultant was running late, we were finally showed into the consulting room. Having had a MRI scan in November I was expecting the results to be explained to me in simple English as the letter I received a month after the scan was in medical terms that only medical people seem to understand. Alas, I was told that I had had a small stroke in the cerebellar area and there was some changes to the blood vessels and it was the cause of my balance problem, and upon asking whether the stroke was the cause of my other symptoms, I was informed the tremor in my hand is due to age (sixty seven) and the weakness in my right side, which is worsening, speech and walking as if I am drunk is all due to emotional stress. What rubbish, the only stress in my life is being ignored by a consultant that wont listen to me. When my wife tried to explain how long I had been like this the consultant just ignored her. I asked about the stroke and he started to look for the scan on the computer but couldn't find it so he checked my blood pressure, pulse and got me to walk along the corridor and then said I needed to have physiotherapy and after ten minutes we were dismissed. We left thinking the whole thing was a complete waste of time, I've had a stroke and no recommendation for medication. The consultant was extremely ignorant and I feel I would have got better treatment by consulting Google.
