"Hospital staff amazing- after care absolutely..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Neurology

My daughter had an operation for chiari malformation on the 2.11.17 - all staff/care absolutely amazing, cannot praise enough. However after leaving hospital after second time re complications with leakage of fluid, after care non existent.

Was told by consultants pre op recover period 2-4 weeks then another consultant said no will be more like 6-8 weeks and could be up to 3 months. However follow up after discharge from hospital would be 4-6 weeks. Appointment received through post for 10.1.18 at Leicester General, however 3-4 weeks later cancellation letter and now appt 21.2.18!!! - this means over 14 weeks after operation??.

My daughter is beside herself as doesn't know whether where she is at in the recovery stage is good or bad, still cannot walk unaided and this has now affected her mental health to the point of now being diagnosed with mild depression and on tablets. Trying to see if anything more could be done re a quicker appt or at least a consultant to speak to my daughter, I called the Consultant's PA who has been absolutely appalling. I have called her 5 times left 5 messages and not once has she had the courtesy to call me back but called my daughter once to say 'tell your mum i am not ignoring her'? and then again left a message on my daughters phone saying this is a message for sonia (me) as obviously doesn't want to talk to me. No resolution offered regardless of my daughters mental health but you need to call the clinic in leicester nothing to do with her. My daughter had the operation at Nottingham QMC and not one consultant could spare 5-10 mins to pick up the phone and speak to my daughter. Is this too much to ask?

So my daughter has been left now with no aftercare since the beginning of November, no physio and no contact what so ever by anyone - this is an absolute disgrace.

I am now making a formal complaint but none of this is going to help my daughter
