About: Pontefract General Infirmary

What I liked

i like the fact you are seen by main office when you walk in and if you look lost at all there are people to guide you to wherever you need to be in any department.

Absolutley spot on for cleansliness and hospitality/respect.

I would certainly recommend pontefract hospital.

I had the choice of wakefield where i live or pontefract some 9 miles away, i chose pontefract!

Excellent hospital and very efficient and very glad i chose to go here. Very pleased. Treatment still ongoing.

What could be improved

The cafe is quite expensive although we understand this is probably ruled by outside business. If i am ever away from home i expect to pay between £1 and £2 for a cup of coffee. This is actually quite spot on at the hospital and the cafe is always spotless.

I had food in here once and although a bit more than i would normally like to pay i have to say it was excellent and worth the money.

As far as the hospital itself i could'nt see anywhere that needed improving.

Anything else?

Hospitals are run by the busiest people in the world. People who devote their lives to the good of the people.

We should think ourselves very lucky we are not in a third world where they have sheds, 1 nurse with not a lot of equipment and common diseases we can cure but actually kill the people in these countries.

We should think of these countries when we complain that, "ooo it took me over an hour to be seen" or "cant believe i had to park further down the road" etc...

Th NHS is a hard place to work, we should be making it easier for them, not harder.

Cant find a parking space? if you know pontefract hospital and sometimes yes it is hard to park then you should get a taxi/bus or a lift but there is always parking at the end of the back road to the right and it is very cheap, 80p for 4 hours i paid.

As far as waiting times go, doctors and nurses run behind because the problems we go to them with may take longer than a common complaint or a regular appointment let alone machine faults or problems with rooms or the equipment within it. Take a book/magazine/e-book/paper or a friend. We cannot be excused when complaining about this because if you are at hospital and you are sat on a chair waiting to be seen this means 1 thing, Your alive!!

You guys do a great job and shame to anyone who thinks differently. Hats off to you and i for 1 cant wait to be back there when my appointment is through.
