Attended the PANDA unit with my young daughter who was experiencing symptoms of viral gastroenteritis. The service provision from the offset was excellent. The nursing staff were extremely thorough & helpful. Each member of the nursing team that we encountered listened to any concerns we had & dealt with them accordingly.
The overall care delivered was efficient and professional.
The only criticism i have is of the medical SHO that reviewed by daughter - not a negative criticism, more of a constructive one. The communication between us was frustrating. Considering the majority of diagnoses are formulated from taking a concise history from a patient, i felt that i wasn't listened to and at times spoken over despite the fact that i was being exceptionally succinct with my answers to the questions asked. There lacked a degree of humanism and inability to listen.
I work for the NHS myself and I know exactly what pressures are exerted on to you as a clinician but i never let my patients feel the effect of this.
Special thanks to the 'play specialist' who was able to distract my daughter at times needed. such a worthy service.
"Thanks PANDA unit."
