74 year old elderly gentleman had fell in our recent icy conditions on Saturday, did not present to A& E till Tuesday with pain in his right leg/thigh/hip, (typical elderly man - thinking there more folk worse than him needing to be seen) He was frustrated with what was a short wait - but this is due to him having some mild brain damage, The A& E care from signing in to - triage, xray and seeing a doctor was all excellent and I will not and cannot fault them at all - THEN.
Here is some pain medication and we will send an urgent referral to community rehab who will contact you tomorrow. A 74 year old with mobility issues made worse from a fall who cant get to the toilet now! Now he is having to pee in a jug in the kitchen - where is his dignity and privacy?
To make matters worse - they basically called to arrange an appointment to assess his needs, his needs were explained very clearly as addition of a walking stick/aid and maybe a urine bottle would help short term.
From here it is now 24 hours later, 3 calls, 3 different teams, nobody has assessed or seen him since and he is still struggling. I (his daughter) am now trying to source the use of the aids to assist him, appalled at this, absolutely appalled he was sent home with no walking assistance.
"Sent home with no walking assistance"
