"Day surgery"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Day Surgery

(as a service user),

Having been phoned up and given an appointment on Monday for Wednesday, I get a phone call less than an hour before I'm due in to say there's not enough beds. Two nights of no sleep, fasting, arranging childcare and help during recovery just to be told we can't do it now. I am so angry. Can't even give me another date so I could now be waiting up to four months. Absolute joke! !

Dear chamaeleonyj75,

I am extremely sorry that your planned procedure was cancelled due to the lack of available beds within University Hospital Ayr. We make every attempt to avoid cancellations. I understand that patients are anxious prior to any admission to hospital and also appreciate the amount of planning needed within the family/workplace. If you wish to email me with your details I would be happy to speak to you and to look for a new date for you as soon as possible. We do offer you a sincere apology that we did not have the capacity to allow your surgery to go ahead on the planned date.
