"Hospitals like this are why the NHS are going..."

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Doncaster hospital is awful, the room we were in was that hot even visitors felt sick, the heating was unable to be adjusted and fans were used to push the heat around, at a guess it would be 28 degrees+ and even the staff complained to us it was stupidly hot in the room, windows were also sealed.

As for the staff most were extremely friendly but the place is so badly organised, we were there for a week and in that week, once they said my son had been given his days medication (he hadnt) it was a staff mistake writing it in notes but not giving it, and twice the wrong amount of medicine was given!

We came in with 2 weeks worth of medication the staff took it and upon leaving we were missing some as it had “ran out” which isnt possible, they expected us to leave without it, upon deciding to wait nearly 10 hours for the missing medicine to be replaced so we can leave we are now told we need to stop another night as they cannot find it.......so two parents and a child taking up beds, being fed and using electric at the tax payers expense because they cannot get themselves organised, awful service recieved and cannot wait for the uk to go private, maybe then the private hospitals will work for the business.

Thank you for your feedback following your son’s admission to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Please accept our apologies, we pride ourselves on the high quality of care delivered at our hospitals and are disappointed that this was not the case in your situation.

Your feedback will be shared with all the teams involved in your sons care to give them the opportunity to reflect and look at ways of preventing this happening again to another family.

It would be good to speak to you in more detail to discuss your experiences, if you are happy to do so please contact the Trust’s Patient Experience Team on Freephone 0800 028 8059 or by e-mail: dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net.
