I had been a patient at this practise for more that 35 years but with the merger of the two surgeries enough is really enough.
Before we merged we had polite and very helpful receptionists, always trying to help unlike the so-called reception staff there is now. The Reception Manager really doesn't have a clue about running that reception or her staff.
I had an appointment one evening with the hub (after my persistence to the receptionist that I really needed that appointment). I arrived with my husband and we were the only ones in the waiting room. I was called into see the doctor. At this time the receptionists were watching tv programmes on an i-pad.(they thought we didn't know). Whilst in with the doctor my husband had to ask the receptionist why she was listening at the door where I was seeing the Dr. My husband was furious as this was a consultation and should be private and confidential. She said she wanted to know if the Dr was free. Had she been paying attention and not playing on her i-pad she would have realised I had gone in as my husband was sat on his own in the waiting room. She said the phones are on an answer phone system and they can't contact the Dr by phone. After many incidents (there are too many to write on here) I came to the decision to move surgeries. It is truly the best decision I have made. I am treated fairly, receptionists are polite and helpful and most of all I CAN ACTUALLY GET AN APPOINTMENT THE SAME DAY. i'm sorry that it has come to this as all the Dr's are first class with a second class reception area.
