In July 2016 I became very unwell and was admitted to St John's hospital, after a few days they transferred me to the Western General hospital where I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I had never been admitted to hospital and I was absolutely petrified of needles however the staff in the gastroenterology wards were fantastic and so caring and supportive. Since 2016 I have had numerous admissions to the ward and each and every time the staff on the ward have provided such a high standard of care that my family and I are so thankful for. In October 2017 I gave birth to a baby girl and not long after I was admitted to the ward again. The nurses on the ward were able to let my partner and my baby stay over night with me due to me having a side room as I live 45 minutes away from the hospital so visiting was always a nightmare. After 3 admissions in December 2017 I had a total colectomy and an ileostomy was created and right up until the moment I went down to theatre the staff on the ward kept me as calm as possible, reassuring me that everything would be fine. I am now feeling fantastic and hoping for no more visits to the hospital but I will always remember the care and support provided by Dr Watson and the staff in Ward 75 over the past year and a half. Dr Watson is a fanstatic consultant who does her absolute best in ensuring that her patients get the care and treatments that are needed. So thankful for everything the hospital has done for me.
