I was admitted onto F1 for a minor emergency operation on 6.1.18 following a referral from Fairfield two days earlier. From the moment I arrived and throughout my time there during the day, each member of staff I came into contact with was polite, friendly and chatty. With the nature of my operation, plus the fact I had never been admitted to hospital or had an operation before, I was really quite nervous about it all. One of the nurses in particular spent time whilst going through my pre-op questionnaire, talking me through the procedure, answering all of my questions and reassuring me. The anaeshatist who joined us also really calmed my nerves by slowly talking me through the general anaesthetic and explaining what will happen to me just before and during my surgery. I would particularly like to thank both of these members of staff for their kindness and patience. They made a worrying situation a lot less stressful for me, for which I am extremely grateful for.
I went into surgery promptly in the morning without any waiting around or delays. The procedure went smoothly and I was allowed to go home mid afternoon. Before I left I had a visit from the surgeon to let me know how the operation had gone and to give me some after-care information.
In my opinion, the team working on F1 on the day of my operation were absolutely fantastic and gave me an excellent quality of care. Please pass on my thanks.
