I was admitted to the Royal Derby Hospital with issues with my sight and debilitating head pain which I thought to be a sever migrain. On admittance to the ANE department I was immediately seen and moved to MAU triage where I was made comfortable given more pain relief and later moved to the MAU ward. I was then admitted to ward 216 where the staff were so wonderful. They were professional and kind and kept me informed every step of the way. Luckily I was only in for three days with a bacterial infection, but the staff dealt with everything wonderfully even though they were having a rather difficult time with other patients they may have been a risk to them they still dealt with them calmly and compassionately.
I could clearly see the nurses and staff were running themselves ragged to see to everyone’s needs, but they never failed to take the time to talk with the older patients and to ensure I felt comfortable and eventually more healthy. On leaving they kept me updated all day on what was happening for me to leave and ensured I fully understood what I was to do med etc when I returned home. The Royal Derby staff are truly wonderful and I would like to be sure they know how much I appreciated their care and attention on what could have easily been dismissed as a minor ailment. They took me seriously and made sure to listen well and reassured me that they believed I felt as unwell as I did when even I doubted wether I was simply being dramatic. Thank you guys you really are Hero’s!!!!
"Fantastic care!!"
