I was referred to Whiston Hospital on 11th January 2018 after an ECG showed that I had a low heartbeat (35 bpm) together with arterial fibrillation.
After reporting to A & E I had another ECG and was admitted to Ward 1 E.
Apparently my heartbeat dropped during the night to 25bpm.
Over the next 6 days I was able to observe the staff in action.
They were professional and caring.
I noticed their patience with one chap who unfortunately wet his bed several times a night and the compassion in their care for another man who had been bed bound for some time and had bedsores.
They turned him regularly, would moisten his lips and regularly attempted to feed him.
Very impressed.
I was fitted with a pacemaker on 15th January, kept in for another day to see that I had no adverse reaction to the new drugs I needed and discharged on 17th January.
The service from the NHS from visiting the doctor with shortness of breath on 9th January and being sent for X ray, blood tests and ECG to being admitted to hospital and operated on was absolutely excellent.
