Myself and my family members suffer from an inherited bleeding disorder.
After giving birth this week,
I immediately haemorrhaged 2.5litres of blood. The emergency button was pulled and a call put out. I couldn’t believe how quickly an amazing team of people came from all directions to help and get me to theatre. They acted quickly and in the best interests of me and my baby.
Without their fast action I would not be here today holding my newborn baby. They looked after me in HDU and postnatal wards after. I am so thankful for the midwives and maternity theatre staff that cared for me.
In addition to this, my little girl (them aged 3) haemorrhaged post operatively after a tonsillectomy back in 2016. The ENT consultant was completely amazing, was called in to perform emergency operation on my daughter. Her tummy was drained of blood and he too saved her life.
Early last year; my mum was very poorly, again haemmorhaging. Once again a team of people cared for her in a way that could only be described as special. One member of staff (Gynae) was a true angel. These people cannot be thanked enough for what they have done for me and my family.
I hate hearing the bad stuff at queens because the good most definitely outweighs it and isn’t reported enough!
