I've been involved with Canada House for 15 yrs + I've seen staff come, go, stay and get as downbeat as the "clients" or whatever the new buzz word is.
I'm sure that there are staff who believe in what they are doing, care about people presenting with issues and wanting to make a difference.
They move on or they become so defeated by the rules, regulations, lack of resources and inability to really help that they are in no better place than the people presenting with needs.
IF support can be offered, it's time limited.
Not by CH but because of the desperate lack of funding ANY government puts into Mental Health.
Ok that's my trying to understand CH.
I have long term (as in my entire life, to date 60 yrs) and I'm sure till the end of my days (though I'll age out of the system at 65 regardless).
I have received varying attempts at support on limited time frames i.e. 50 mins x 4 wks for 14 wks. I've been ignored, dismissed & talked over by the "Specialists."
I accept their years at Med school + Psych training, but what about my years living with MY illness 24/7/365?
Unfortunately I don't get holidays, Bank Holidays, weekends off or sick leave.
