"Thank you"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Maternity care

I Had my second baby here in December. Just want to thank the midwife who got the pleasure of me at 4.50am as I arrived and my son was out by 5.17am. She did a great job of delivering my son and cleaning me up. So thank you to this midwife! She passed us over to another fantastic midwife who was just absolutely lovely. Always smiling. Helpful. Reassuring and interested in us. Made us feel welcome and well looked after. A big thank you to her for making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. We were kept in overnight and had our own room. It was lovely and pretty much every person we met was great. The only time I felt abit of an inconvenience was when I asked the receptionist at the desk for milk for my son as the cupboard said staff only. She was abit abrupt when she told me to go get it as it was unlocked. She also burst into our room and knocked my sons cot as she flung the door open and there's not alot of space in the room.

He was not behind the door but at the foot of the bed (door is to the left) with his dad as I felt unwell so he was watching him. Expecting her to apologise or at least look at him to check He was OK

I was shocked that she stared at me and said blimey before walking out again. I appreciate she was busy and there are thousands born here but it is a shame that In an environment where people are going through such a special time in their lives, there's people who don't even have a smile for us or a friendly approach. I also was not offered breakfast the morning following our stay. Nobody offered me even a cup of tea or toast and I discovered later there was a trolley outside that I presume you helped yourself to drinks but I was not told of this. All the other midwives and staff I met on the ward after were fantastic.just perhaps a little more info on arrival to the ward would help mums out. Like being told the system for getting milk. The system for meals. How to get drinks. Overall I would recommend this hospital fantastic midwives and drs. Happy memories of our son finally coming into the world

Many congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. Thank you for taking the time to leave such comprehensive feedback on your recent experience. It is great to hear that you were treated well but your feedback is a reminder to us that small things really matter to patients – and this includes a smile.

I have shared your feedback with staff. uif you would like to discuss anything with me directly or in further detail, you can contact me on 07812 268 648.

Kind regards,

Laura Rumsey,
