"Maternity services"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Mary Rose Maternity Centre

In general the maternity services at QA during my pregnancy were very good. I was looked after by the Diabetes Team as i had gestational diabetes in both of my pregnancies.

Midwife in charge in the early hours of 27th October 2017 actually told me off for screaming whilst giving birth. She didnt have a great bedside manner and this has been playing on my mind ever since & wanted to leave a review about her. Didnt catch her name.

I'm sorry to hear that you felt the midwife had a poor bedside manner during your labour and that this has been playing on your mind. This is certainly not the standard of care that we expect our mothers to receive in the Maternity Unit.

We would really like to look into this further as its important to us that mothers have as much care and support as possible from their midwife at such a stressful time.

Would you mind contacting us at the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) so that we can share your details with the Senior Management Team at the Maternity Unit as I know that they will be keen to look into this asap. (PHT.PALS@porthosp.nhs.uk - tel 0800 917 6039)

I hope that your new baby is bringing you and your family lots of joy and happiness.

Kind regards

Marion
