"A place I would hate my mother or anyone..."

About: James Paget University Hospital

What I liked

Great if you want to diet.

What could be improved

Communications. Promises to have discussion with doctors ignored. Promises to have a look at a remedy given twice but nothing done.

Anything else?

A nurse saying "We pinch, prod and poke them all day so that they sleep at night"

A doctor asking mum "why was she out of bed on her own and then walking off".

A nurse saying " a fall requires the patient to be examined by a doctor, rolling of a bed doesn't"

We had been told mum required a falls bed and crash mats, after a couple of weeks bed changed for a higher one and one of the crash mats removed because anothe rpatient need them.

The Trust encourages patients and their carers to raise concerns with our staff whilst they are in the hospital – through the Ward sister or matron. This allows us to review our practices and make improvements where necessary. The Patient Advice and Liaison Service can also take issues forward if they can't be resolved on the ward. Further information on this service can be found at this link http://www.jpaget.nhs.uk/section.php?id=12145
