What I liked
I was on the neurology ward for Guillain Barre syndrome which is quite a rare disorder affecting peripheral nerves. I was admitted into the neurology ward immediately after seeing a registrar. I was shown to my bed space which was clean and tidy, the nurses immediately brought me water and made sure I was comfortable. Throughout the duration of my stay all of the nurses and doctors here were very polite and understanding especially as I am a 24 yr old on a neurology ward where it is predominantly older people. Throughout my recovery period the nurses were extremely helpful and I got to know a few of them well. The beds were constantly changed and there was always people around monitoring the different patients with Parkinson's etc. As this was the first time in Frenchay I didn't know what to expect but it certainly exceeded anything I thought. It's just such a shame they are knocking it down. I would certainly recommend this hospital to a friend.
What could be improved
The only comment I have here is that the place could be a little more updated but I suppose that is why they are doing all of the building work in South Mead to replace Frenchay. Oh and the obvious one... hospital food!
Anything else?
All in all I was very pleased with the care provided to me and I really take my hat off to the nurses doing what they do. If anyone lives, as I do, half way between Bristol and Gloucester always pick this option as the other option in my eyes isn't even worth considering unless you want to come out feeling worse than when you went in. A* for Frenchay and the staff.
