My mother was taken to the Sheldon Unit in July 2017. After a fall in May she had been taken to the QE where she stayed for 2 months. It was then decide she should move to the Sheldon and "let nature take its course".
After 6 months of fantastic care and support Mum moved out today to take up residence in a nursing home. This would have been unthinkable back in July but here we are.
We are going to miss the Sheldon Unit terribly. The staff there are second to none. One always felt welcome during a visit and the ward was always clean, well organised and safe. All the staff are totally dedicated to their work, there is always laughter and good humour underlined by a totally professional approach.
The wide variety of food choice was always prepared to a high standard and served with the same good will.
The staff knew their patients well and were always going out of their way to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
"Dignity" should be the motto of the Sheldon Unit, it is there in overflowing amounts.
I will always remember theses last six months as some of the best times Mum had in her twilight years and I will always be grateful to all the staff.
Mums stay took in Christmas and the Sheldon Unit did this very well, there was even a visit from Santa!!
Thanks again to everyone at the Sheldon Unit I can't recommend you highly enough.
