A couple of years ago I suffered a detached retina. The team at Torbay were quick to diagnose and arrange an operation at Plymouth Derriford the next morning due to it being a weekend. The follow up visits were very thorough, sympathetic and positive and the consultant was very kind and reassuring, something you really need after you have been through this procedure.
The operation for a cataract (which formed as a result of the operation) was done in what seemed like minutes. At the time I was told that a mist might form on the back of the lens in time, and after a visit to the optician last year was informed that this was happening.
At the beginning of January 2018 I saw a consultant who said he would do the procedure and again was very reassuring. Yesterday 15/01/2018, I saw this consultant again and he gave me laser eye treatment and today I can see clearly again. He was kind and could not have made me feel more at ease during the procedure.
Everyone fears that they will lose their eyesight when they go through these procedures, but the team at Torbay put me at ease and were so professional throughout all of my visits.
I would to extend my sincere thanks to everyone in the Torbay Eye Department for their understanding, hard work and expertise.
