"Execeptional care and treatment."

About: Southampton General Hospital

What I liked

I went into the Thoracic ward D2 for surgery on January 30th and was a little apprehensive after getting some negative feedback beforehand, but this was totally unfounded as I couldn't have had better care. Everyone working on the ward .. doctors, nurses, orderlies etc were very kind and helpful. What I noticed mostly is that D2 is a very happy ward .. lots of laughter, which is the best tonic when you are unwell or recovering from surgery. If I have any criticism at all it's that it's far too overheated.. as is most of the hospital. Surely it would be better to throw a couple more blankets on the beds and open a window or two instead.. not only cheaper but healthier as germs just breed in such overheated conditions.

What could be improved

Turn the heating down a notch or two.

Thank you for your comment - we're really pleased to hear that you were happy with your care and experience on the ward. Southampton General is a very big and complex building and we have to balance the requirements of all patients in each area, but we are sorry it was too warm for you and we will look into how we monitor and control the ambient temperature in the area where you were treated.
