"Bronchitis"

About: Southmead Hospital / Respiratory medicine

My mum was admitted on Christmas Eve and was diagnosed with Acute Bronchitis and a urinary tract infection. She stayed for 10 days in total. She was given a chest x ray, a ct scan to check for a blood clot in the lung, oxygen, steroids and antibiotics, plus regular monitoring of her Type 1 diabetes. I am so grateful to every member of staff who looked after my mum, and made sure she made a complete recovery before allowing her home. With it being Christmas it was a particularly difficult time, and the hospital was busier than ever.

The staff, who I know are struggling and working harder than ever for nowhere near enough money, were friendly, polite and caring and gave my mum everything she needed. I can't thank you enough, and tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you.

Dear Clare,

Thank you for your positive feedback relating to the care your mum received when she was admitted to hospital over the Christmas period.

Please be assured we have shared your kind comments and feedback to the staff involved.

It is always worrying when a family member becomes poorly especially at Christmas time.

However, I hope that your mum is now on the road to recovery and continues to improve.

With all best wishes, Sue Needs, Deputy Advice & Complaints Team Manager.
