TL;DR Treated dismissively and disdainfully but nurse practitioner and doctor; left with no diagnosis, in little better condition and feeling like I'd wasted their time despite being in acute pain.
I've previously had a great experience at NDD Hospital. Today was rather different. I have sustained a serious rib injury that worsened after getting an inadequate diagnosis s week before at Bideford Community hospital. Following this I have through my own doing managed to enormously worsen my situation. I am suffering serious, intermittent pain that feels like my rib is slipping or popping out. My issues with my treatment are:
- I felt that the nurse practitioner that triaged me treated me with disinterest and disdain
- Similarly, the doctor that assessed me was also dismissive
- I felt that they had assumed my injury rather than diagnose/investigate it, and ignored the specific detail I described that was causing me intense pain. I believe this might be because my 'vitals' were fine (no collapsed lung etc)
- I left feeling like iI'd somehow wasted their time or been a hinderance.
In summary, I'm not only deeply disappointed, I'm concerned about the I have been given superficial care that will result in my injury worsening. I'll update if this is inaccurate.
