"Recovering with help from Guernsey House"

About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service Sheffield (PCASS)

(as a service user),

It's been 18months/2 years since I used, I've got no worries or concerns about that - I am sure that I'll never use again now. My aim is to be off suboxone by the end of the year and I think I'll achieve that.

I see the doctor at Guernsey House and I see the counsellor at DIP.

I had one slip up a while back. I was being a bit devious, I was going through a lot and I wasn't sleeping well. I thought my keyworker would give me a hard time and I'd feel like a stupid school boy but instead they were really understanding, talked to me about it all. She was great, I shouldn't have been nervous of telling her at all. It was a bit of a set back, but it was ok. I'm much better now, it wasn't a major relapse so I still feel like I'm on the way to recovery.

If things go off track, I know who I need to call.

I start volunteering tomorrow. I just want to get out of the flat and do something. I'm hoping that might lead to work. The good thing is that when I'm occupied and busy, I will tire myself out and will be able to stop taking tablets to sleep. The less stuff I'm on, the better!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about your treatment at Guernsey House. It's great to hear that you have clear goals for yourself and that our staff are helping you on your way to recovery. Hopefully volunteering will prove rewarding for you - let your key worker know if you need any further support.
