From the moment, at 7-00 am , when I entered Charing Cross, to the time I left at 5-30 pm I experienced absolutely top rate care administered by brilliantly committed, caring and professional staff. I attended the day surgery unit based in West Wing , 6th floor to have an unknown lesion removed from a vocal cord. It was potentially a very traumatic experience for me having never spent time in a hospital, never had an operation and never been under general anaesthetic. My operation was explained in detail by the surgeon who really went the extra mile to put me at ease. The anaestative likewise. The operation was carried out with total success and the post op care in the recovery room was personal, caring and consummately professional. All staff, including cleaners, porters, receptionists and the healthcare team were respectful and amazingly committed. This was all the more remarkable given the present state of the NHS and the intolerable pressures this puts on staff. I can’t express my gratitude highly enough. THANK YOU ALL for turning a potential frightening time into an agreeable one, given the circumstance of a first time operation and the unknown terrors it held for me.
